This week, SounDiego-presented by Legit Radio’s one and only Chris Cantore toted along a little treat for fellow Hivers. Alyssa Jacey made gave us a little taste of her new album, before her record-release show at Belly Up Tavern. Very catchy indeed.Check it out here.
Last week our very own Rebuild graced the presence of Pecha Kucha attendees with a presentation on the impact of design in our communities. If you missed out-it’s all good. We snagged a copy for you-check it out.
We’d like to announce that theHIVE is expanding with a second location, right here in the heart of East Village. Our other half will open on February 1st and is nestled next to the Reprohaus building on the intersection of 14 and K. Feel free to check out the space after next week and stay posted for updates.
In reaction to the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that took place in Haiti on January 12th, we have decided to round up some relief. There’s an all-call for our “Pantry Pull” to help stack up some cans in our bin. Even the most random of contributions will help-so let’s aid one Top Ramen at a time. We’ll connect with the Red Cross and send over some comforts to those who were affected. Now let’s cram that bin!
We are very excited for Hiver, blogger, radio personality, Chris Cantore, who is now in charge of Sounddiego, NBC San Diego’s new music blog that just launched this week! For one of their first segments, they featured theHIVE for music monday, check it out!Click here to visit the blog.
Fellow Hiver, Dave Brown, owner of holidaymatinee.com is MCing San Diego’s PechaKucha Night once again and it’s sure to be a blast. For those who don’t know, PechaKucha brings people together to share good ideas and is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. Tonight, presentations begin tonight at 8:20pm at Super El Camino in Little Italy but eating, drinking and networking starts right now.
Dear Phonebook Man,
We here at theHIVE appreciate your tireless efforts to increase our communities connectivity by providing us with your wonderful directories. However, this morning there were 6 phone books on the front desk. For future reference, one phonebook is more than enough. Thus we kindly ask the discontinuance of your services.
For your own information, we here at theHIVE are on the cutting edge of NEW and EXCITING TECHNOLOGIES – therefore we feel it is our duty to inform you of an amazing new communication tool called “the Internet” that replaces almost all written directories. Some people say its a fad but we are positive it’s here to stay!
Regards,
TheHIVE
We’re always blown away by our talented fellow Hivers. Lately, James Jennings, a software developer/consultant here at theHIVE has really been impressing us. His specialty is working with mobile devices, specifically the iPhone and Android devices but also does work with desktop software, web apps, tablet devices and server/database software. While this is his business, he also develops products of his own. Right now he’s working on an awesome iphone application that reminds you to take your medication called Medsy. Medsy is in beta testing and they hope to launch by February. Check out more from James at http://jamesjennings.com
