They say great minds think alike, but when great minds cowork, I guess they act alike too. These five HIVErs all showed up wearing red today….and coincidentally have desks just feet from each other. Maybe it’s a secret club, or they’re just inspired by the HIVE colors. You decide.

SD Mag Gets It

picture-16The April 2010 San Diego Magazine had a few words to say about theHIVE concept. We scored a spot in the City Files section complete with a nice shot of the Nest. They were totally digging the communal concept of the space. We’re totally digging that people are catching on. Thanks SD Mag for the snippet.

RAWSHEET2

The Blind Lady Ale House was bursting with creativity yesterday thanks to Holiday Matinee and some very talented High Tech High School media arts students. HM’s Dave Brown teamed up with the students to launch the next Artist Series for the company t-shirt line-and boy were we impressed. Two new shirts, dozens of acrylic on bamboo masterpieces, and many HIVE collective sightings later, it was most definitely a success. Oh, and did we mention that all the proceeds go back to the students and their school? The venue chipped in too, donating part of their sales to these up-and-coming artists. Thumbs up for giving back.

photo1We thought we’d let you in on what the collective has been up to.  We found the following activity to be notable:

TheMixster.com recently finished a photo shoot here in the hiveHAUS…be sure to check out these sassy shots.

Holiday Matinee launched a couple new t-shirts in collaboration with High Tech High School. All the proceeds go back to benefit the school. Awesome!

Organic Exchange rep Ashley Currin flew down to Lima, Peru yesterday to learn more about organic cotton farming and local communities. We’ll definitely post some pictures of her travels upon her return.

The New York Times felt this concept deserved some recognition and featured our innovative group in their stocks and bonds section. It’s definitely gaining momentum-it’ll be awesome to see what investors can accomplish with a little collaboration.

Today one of HIVE 241′s collectives, Boom Media gave KUSI News some insight about their passion: new media. Brian Tompkins repped the group and explained how the viral nature of social media can work to connect people for all kinds of purposes: marketing, campaigns, amber alerts, fundraising etc.

Yet Another Reason to Love theHIVE

March 9th, 2010 | Jason | No Comments »

washingtonBandsintown’s Alexis Rodich, a fairly recent implant from the D.C. area, has been keeping the nation’s capital updated via her column in the Washington Post. Besides digging the ever-changing environment of theHIVE and the active San Diego lifestyle, she has really taken to FIT Athletic, as part of the deal we scored a couple months ago. It’s not your standard gym- from the machinery to the classes (the collective seems to like power yoga) to the spa, Alexis may have said it best…”a fitness buff’s dream.” Just another added bonus of being part of the HIVE community.

Perk #148 of theHIVE

March 4th, 2010 | Jason | No Comments »

hive_deskAhh…the beauty of collaboration. Not only does Citrus PR have the chance to sit by Shane Farmer of 8 Oars-there are some added perks as well. Aside from working hard on a rowing business, Shane seems to have a knack for innovative desk accessories. He built the girls some “HIVE risers” for their desks complete with lighting-all from a few Ikea products. Don’t get too jealous-he let us know he’ll hook it up if anyone is interested.
