In order to give the collective an official time to collaborate better, we began theHIVE Think Tank at 770 where our creatives can learn from each other, generate new ideas and get input on roadblocks. Collective Alexis Rodich aka Woman Warrior of the Washington Post attended and had something to tell Washingtonians. Thanks for the shout out!
See what she had to say.

And by that I mean he booked the Contemporary Museum of Art with one of the best up-and-coming acts: Joel P. West for one hell of an event. theHIVE is estatic and KPBS made note of the clever collaboration too.

Dave of Inkdish asked some fellow HIVE collectives for some advice regarding their new line of hip porcelain dinnerware. They teamed up with artists and created renderings of possible releases. Now they just need to know what we’re feelin’.

Last March, upon opening theHIVE, we brought on board Dylan Ousley as our graphic design intern. After a full year of interning with us, gaining momentum via collaboration, and taking on clients from within theHIVE and around town, he decided it was time to move on up. This month he got his own desk and is running his blog-DylanOusley.com, HomeEc graphic design and The Motivated Youth site. He’s now a permanent fixture-congrats on the transition Dylan!

Despite working out of two HIVE locations, Lauge Mathiasen of AxMentor and Charles Dessell of cdCubed managed to get together at our 241 location to catch up. With our second location just down the street, we’ve got twice the brains and inspiration, not to mention a great home base for Padres games.

One of our collectives has successfully secured an app for the new iPad and man are we proud. James Jennings, application developer here at theHIVE put in quite a bit of work in a small time frame (about a week!) to get the Maui Island Guide and Driving Magazine app ready for Apple’s newest gadget. All island hoppers should get the scoop here.
