So, as most of you know Friday Morning Brew is every other Friday here at theHIVE. It’s an awesome time to grab some caffeine and catch up with each other as we anticipate the weekend. On Thursday, Oct. 29, draught masters from 32 countries will descend upon New York City to compete for the 2009 Stella Artois World Draught Master title. The Hive’s Tap Hunter was invited by Stella Artois as new media to cover this prestigious event. Social media made so much sense as a centerpiece for the event—because experiences, whether in a blog or a real-world brand environment, make people talk and word of mouth recommendations yield extraordinary impact. Stella fans didn’t have to take the marketers word for it, they interacted one-to-one with the event. Ashley has taken the Official(unofficial) role of ‘Posture Coach’ at the HIVE and is leading by example(like a good coach should) with her brand new GAIAM BalanceBall Chair. We all got a chance to sit in it and after some consideration we have decided it’s pretty much “the Bomb.” Sitting at a desk all day can make your back pretty upset with you, but this chair encourages best posture practice and will make you and your back feel good. Seems like a really great innovation in “office chair” technology … oh yeah, It’s bouncy too! So when can we expect one of these at every desk?

We give Holiday Matinee a lot of attention but the truth is they deserve every bit of it. Right now they’re getting an amazing amount of attention, globally, on the release of their new Book titled, I Swear to Good You Are God at This. Today marks the official release of the book and to celebrate, HM is throwing a mad crazy book release party at Bar Basic in East village. No one is really quite sure what to expect but we know two things for sure, (1) our very own Graham Downes will be MCing the event and (2) it’s sure to be “awesome.” (HM’s favorite word). So please do us a favor, do HM a favor, more importantly do yourself a favor and check out a preview of the book right here and for goodness sake RSVP for tonight’s party because if you miss it, you will likely carry the regret for the rest of your life.

Fellow Hiver, Dave Brown, owner of holidaymatinee.com is MCing San Diego’s PechaKucha Night once again and it’s sure to be a blast. For those who don’t know, PechaKucha brings people together to share good ideas and is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. Tonight, presentations begin tonight at 8:20pm at Super El Camino in Little Italy but eating, drinking and networking starts right now.
