We’re always blown away by our talented fellow Hivers. Lately, James Jennings, a software developer/consultant here at theHIVE has really been impressing us. His specialty is working with mobile devices, specifically the iPhone and Android devices but also does work with desktop software, web apps, tablet devices and server/database software. While this is his business, he also develops products of his own. Right now he’s working on an awesome iphone application that reminds you to take your medication called Medsy. PreDevCamp is finally here and its going to be rad! On Saturday, mobile developers, web developers, UI designers, and testers, will all gather and be working together to develop awesome innovative applications for the Palm Pre and there’s no better space to get creative in than theHIVE! We are most excited to host PreDevCamp and can’t wait to see what they come up with. UPDATE:
The first meeting of the San Diego Tech Founders last night at theHive was a huge success. Approximately 25 founders (and future founders) of San Diego-based technology companies participated in presentations and company pitches.
Steve Bjorg presented the “No BS Entrepreneur’s Guide to Getting Started.” Brant Cooper presented on the topic of customer development practices for start-ups. Adam Harris presented on the topic of financial modeling for start-ups. Mike Thompson, Ron Hodson and Brant Cooper each pitched their company or new project ideas.

The San Diego Tech Founders group is holding their first meeting here at theHIVE. Its tonight, July 16th @ 6:30 and will be filled with networking, interesting speakers and tons of feedback… not to mention some tasty snacks & drinks (I know because I saw Mike carry them in this morning)
Jelly coworking takes place in 20 cities around the globe and Jelly San Diego was blowing up today! Someone even brought KrispyKreme doughnuts! Its really cool to see all kinds of people come together and make stuff happen. Check out some photos and my little vlog from today.
Wednesday was the first Django meeting here at the HIVE. For those that don’t know, Django is a pretty rad web framework based on the Python programming language. They call it the “Python web framework for perfectionists with deadlines” and say it, “encourages rapid development and clean, pragmatic design.” These are the guys you want to know, we look forward to co-working with them again.

theHIVE is now the official San Diego home for Jelly (http://wiki.workatjelly.com) co-working sessions, where people are invited to bring along their laptops and come work alongside other creative, fun people for one day every other week.
